A synthetic seven-residue peptide closed into a ring by a lactam bridge between an aspartate side chain and a lysine side chain, with an acetylated N-terminus and an amidated C-terminus. Its His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp core is a modified form of the message sequence carried by the melanocortin peptides.
